Ultrasound probe & transducer repair

Linear · convex · phased-array · endocavitary · TEE · 3D/4D — quote after free diagnosis

Rongtao Medical repairs defective ultrasound transducers for distributors, refurbishers and hospital biomedical teams — independently of the OEM. A failed probe rarely needs replacement: element dropout, lens delamination, cable wear, connector damage and 4D motor faults are all repairable at a fraction of the price of a new or exchange transducer.

Every repaired probe is verified on a live compatible system before it ships back. If a probe is not economically repairable, we say so at the diagnosis stage and can quote a tested replacement from stock instead.

When a probe needs repair

If you see one of these, the probe is usually repairable
Symptom 01
Element dropout / dark bands

Vertical dark lines or missing image columns that stay in place when you move the probe — classic failed acoustic elements or a broken coax bundle.

Symptom 02
Image artifacts or noise

Streaks, flashing, snow or one-sided artifacts that persist across presets and ports, and get worse when the cable is flexed.

Symptom 03
Lens damage or delamination

Cuts, bubbles, peeling or swelling of the acoustic lens — a patient-safety issue and an early cause of element damage from fluid ingress.

Symptom 04
Cable and strain-relief wear

Cracked jacket, exposed shielding or a loose strain relief. Intermittent image dropout when the cable moves usually starts here.

Symptom 05
Connector or pin damage

Bent pins, cracked housing, failed locking mechanism, or a probe that is only recognized on some ports.

Symptom 06
Probe not recognized / phantom probe

The system does not enumerate the probe, or shows a phantom probe. Can be probe-side (ID circuit) or system-side — we isolate which before quoting.

Symptom 07
4D motor faults

Volumetric probes that stop sweeping, grind or freeze mid-sweep — motor, drive belt or position-sensor faults inside the 3D/4D dome.

Symptom 08
TEE articulation problems

Stiff, loose or non-returning deflection controls on transesophageal probes, or damaged insertion-tube sheathing.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Probe repair, answered before you ship anything

The questions distributors and biomedical engineers ask before sending a transducer in.

01

Can a defective ultrasound transducer actually be repaired?

In most cases, yes. Element dropout, lens delamination, cable and strain-relief wear, connector damage and 4D motor faults are all standard repairs. Crystal-array replacement is quoted case by case; if a probe is beyond economic repair we tell you at the free diagnosis stage.

02

Which brands of ultrasound probes do you repair?

GE, Philips, Siemens, Hitachi, Aloka, Toshiba/Canon, Mindray, Samsung Medison, Esaote and SuperSonic probes, including 3D/4D volumetric and TEE designs. If your OEM isn't listed, send the model — the constructions are similar across brands.

03

How do I know if the fault is the probe or the machine?

Test the probe on another port and, if possible, another system; test a known-good probe on the same port. Share the results with us — the free remote diagnosis isolates probe-side from system-side faults before anything ships.

04

Can I mail in a probe from outside China?

Yes. The mail-in workflow serves 140+ countries and regions. We provide packing guidance — rigid case, lens protection, connector cap — plus export-compliant paperwork and insured return shipping.

05

What does probe repair cost compared to replacement?

Typical repairs run at a fraction of a new or OEM-exchange transducer. Because diagnosis is free, you can compare the repair quote against a tested replacement from our stock before deciding.
